Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

GoLocal LLC (“GoLocal,” “we,” “us”) runs the GoLocal mobile app and the website at golocalexperiences.com (together, the “Services”). GoLocal helps people discover local experiences (events, activities, places, and hidden gems) and share photos and videos of them. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

The short version: we collect what we need to run your account and show your posts. We don’t sell your personal information, we don’t use it for targeted advertising, and you can delete your account at any time from inside the app.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: your name, email address and/or phone number, username, password (handled by our authentication provider; we never see it in plain text), and date of birth.
  • Profile information: profile photo, bio, and the interests and preferences you choose (for example, categories you like and how you like to go out).
  • Content you post: photos, videos, captions, experiences you submit (such as a place’s name, address, hours, and description), reviews, likes, follows, and the experiences you tag in posts.
  • Messages to us: support requests and anything else you send us.
  • Website sign-ups: if you join our waitlist, your email address; if you apply as a creator, your name, email address, and the social media usernames and follower counts you provide.

Information from sign-in providers

If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and (from Google) your profile photo. With Apple, you can choose to hide your email, in which case we receive a private relay address. See “Google user data” below for more.

Information collected automatically

  • Location: if you allow it, the app uses your device’s location to show experiences near you. We use it on your device to pick the area you’re browsing. We don’t keep a history of your location on our servers. You can turn location off at any time in your device settings and choose an area manually instead.
  • Usage information: the posts you view and like and the accounts you follow, which we use to show view counts and like counts and to personalize what you see.
  • Device and log information: like most online services, our servers and providers automatically record technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, and request times. We use this for security, fraud prevention, and fixing problems.

Camera, microphone, and photos

The app asks for access to your camera, microphone, and photo library only so you can take or choose photos and videos to post. We only receive the media you choose to upload. When we process uploaded images we create resized copies, and those copies don’t include embedded metadata such as GPS location.

2. How we use information

  • To create and manage your account and sign you in.
  • To run the Services: show experiences, display your profile and posts, and let people like and follow.
  • To personalize recommendations based on your stated interests and activity.
  • To review and moderate content. Submitted experiences and posts may be reviewed by our team before they appear publicly.
  • To send you account-related messages, such as verification codes and responses to support requests.
  • To keep the Services safe, enforce our Terms of Service, and prevent abuse.
  • To understand and improve how the Services work.
  • To comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don’t show third-party ads.

3. What’s public

GoLocal is a social service. Your name, username, profile photo, bio, follower and following counts, and the content you post (once approved) are visible to other users. Please don’t post anything you want to keep private. Your email address, phone number, and date of birth are not shown publicly.

4. How we share information

We share information only as described here:

  • Other users: as described in “What’s public.”
  • Service providers who process information on our behalf and may use it only to provide their services to us:

  • Business transfers: if GoLocal is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that deal. This policy will continue to apply to it.
  • With your permission: in any other case where you ask us to or agree to it.

5. Google user data

If you choose “Sign in with Google,” we request only your basic profile: your name, email address, and profile photo. We use this solely to create and sign in to your GoLocal account and to fill in your profile. We do not request access to your Gmail, contacts, calendar, Drive, or any other Google data.

GoLocal’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use it to train AI or machine-learning models. We do not let people read it except as needed for security, to comply with the law, or with your consent. You can remove GoLocal’s access at any time from your Google Account settings. Deleting your GoLocal account deletes the Google profile information we stored.

6. How long we keep information

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile and the content you posted, generally within 30 days. Some information may remain for a limited time in backups or where we need to keep it to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or prevent fraud and abuse. Waitlist and creator sign-ups are kept until we launch in your area or you ask us to remove them.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Access and update: you can view and edit your profile information in the app at any time.
  • Delete your account: in the app, go to Profile → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and the content you posted, and signs you out on every device. Approved experience listings you added stay on GoLocal without your name. If you can’t access the app, email support@golocalexperiences.com from the email address or phone number on your account and we’ll delete it within 30 days.
  • Location, camera, and photos: you can turn these permissions on or off in your device settings.
  • Website sign-ups: email support@golocalexperiences.com to be removed from the waitlist or creator list.
